About the role

As a Fortune 500 company recognized by Forbes and Fortune for its workplace excellence, SDI seeks a Maintenance Mechanic/Welder to support heavy‑manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain industrial equipment used in steel fabrication.
• Maintain equipment such as saws, punches, presses, welding equipment, robot weld lines, and painting/coating systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
• Perform routine maintenance on 480 VAC motor controls, AC cranes, AC drives, DC motors, and PLC‑controlled systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Maintain and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems, cranes, and hoists.
• Perform welding tasks as required.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Experience working in heavy manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial equipment.
• Skilled in welding and able to produce quality welds.
• Knowledge of 480 VAC motor controls, AC crane operation, AC drive/DC motor systems, and PLC troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and maintenance of cranes and hoists.
