Maintenance Tech - Nights
Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry with business in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. Our Lenox, Iowa facility—known as the "Pearl of the Prairie"—produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Located in southwest Iowa, Lenox offers small-town living with big-city amenities nearby in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. The area features beautiful farmland, a four-day rodeo every July, a 36-9 hole golf course, fishing and boating lakes, hunting, parks, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
About the role
This night shift position performs process and production maintenance throughout the facility, including equipment breakdowns, installations, startups, process improvements, preventative/precision maintenance, and continuous improvement activities. Candidates must be self-motivated and take ownership of maintenance processes and results.
Responsibilities
- Respond efficiently to urgent facility needs.
- Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications to disassemble, repair, replace, rebuild, and install mechanical equipment.
- Apply basic knowledge of belts, sheaves, chains, sprockets, bearings, lubrication standards, and fasteners.
- Utilize CMMS (SAP) to review, execute, and document scheduled/unscheduled work daily.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical power transmission equipment, including gearboxes, drives, variable speed applications, and motors.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration, and lubrication devices.
- Perform pipe fitting, insulating, rigging, and use mechanical, hand, and power tools.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
- Comply with all Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate computer literacy or the ability to learn.
- Operate a forklift and/or aerial work platform (preferred or ability to learn).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Technical certificate (e.g., HVAC, welding, electrical, automation) preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in industrial operations, plant maintenance, food/pharmaceutical industry, or related field preferred.
- Prior training in OSHA 10 Hour, HAZMAT, Arc Flash, LOTO, electrical systems, or fall protection is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and applying force to hand/power tools.
- Crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperatures.
- Working at heights.
Pay
$2.00/hr shift differential for night shift.
Schedule
2/2/3 rotating schedule.
