Position Summary
Qualified individual will be capable of evaluating and repairing all mechanical and hydraulic machines and equipment.
Tasks
- Perform preventative maintenance work, troubleshoot and repair problems on industrial machinery (roll-overs, lift tables, tilt stations, & paint systems)
- Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools
- Operate hand held cutting tools (Torches, Plasma Cutters)
- Complete confined space training
- Maintain accuracy in production records (travelers, timecards)
- Check parts to Quality Control Documents
- Participate in all required training programs to maintain skill levels for continuous improvement
- Successfully complete training program
- Operate lift truck within the guidelines of the McLaughlin Body Powered Industrial Vehicle Program
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and comply with all safety rules and procedures
- Wear and maintain required protective clothing and equipment including: safety glasses, steel toe safety shoes, and hearing protection (additional protection such as gloves or Kevlar sleeves may be needed)
- Be personally responsible and committed to the quality of one's own work
- Work above production standards
- Supply own hand tools
- Have valid driver's license
Skills
- Read blueprints and apply them to production parts
- Knowledge of production processes and ability to read work process instructions
- Use tape measure, digital calipers, and square to ensure accuracy of work
- Equipment Selection - Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do the required job
- Quality Control Analysis - Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
- Perform welding operations and capable of passing a 3G weld test (settings, operational knowledge, quality of welds, safety precautions, etc.)
- Safe use of fabrication equipment including saws, drills, torch and plasma
- Build from a print or drawing
Physical Requirements
- Occasional horizontal lift up to 75 pounds
- Frequent horizontal lift up to 25 pounds
- Occasional floor to waist lift up to 50 pounds
- Occasional waist to crown lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand for the duration of the shift (work schedule may be over 8 hours a day)
- Push/pull up to 75 pounds
- Kneel, bend, crouch, forward bend, and stand to complete job assignments
- Work overhead
- Work during hot or cold temperatures (summer temperatures can reach or exceed 100 degrees)
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Minimum of six (6) years of proven experience in the applicable trade OR possess Journeyman certification OR has completed an approved apprenticeship and/or training program
