About the Role
A Maintenance Technician III performs advanced installation, maintenance, and complex troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with minimal supervision. This role serves as the final point of escalation for intricate problems, mentors junior staff, and ensures product safety, quality, and legality.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Perform scheduled and emergency repairs, including preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades, and adaptation of new production equipment.
- Read and apply complex blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to understand system operations.
- Guide and train less experienced technicians on procedures and complex repairs.
- Repair or replace worn/damaged parts, disassemble/reassemble equipment, and test for proper function.
- Maintain detailed repair logs, performance data, and work records using maintenance tracking software.
- Assist with work schedules and order necessary parts and supplies to minimize downtime.
- Design, program (often in ladder logic), install, test, and maintain PLC-based automated control systems for industrial machinery.
- Follow safety protocols, use appropriate PPE, and manage hazardous exposures.
- Communicate effectively with peers and other department employees.
- Provide after-hours or weekend emergency repair services as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 4+ years of experience performing mechanical maintenance duties in a manufacturing/packaging environment, or equivalent vocational education and experience.
- Exceptional problem-solving and maintenance skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work at elevated heights using ladders or aerial lift equipment for extended periods.
- Customer service-driven and a strong team player.

- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to use hands for fine manipulation, handling, or feeling objects.

- Full range of motion to conduct physical tasks throughout the warehouse.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
