Maintenance Tech II

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Uses mechanical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment in accordance with established GMP and safety procedures
• Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Calls for backup and coordinates repairs with other mechanics
• Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery
• Performs required routine preventative maintenance and repair activities when not working on breakdowns
• Diagnostics and repairs or replaces faulty electrical, electronic, and mechanical components throughout the facility
• Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
• 5-10 years of experience working with and troubleshooting PLCs, AC/DC electrical troubleshooting on food packaging/processing equipment and production/processing machine repair

Knowledge and Skills

• Trained on safety related programs necessary to perform the position, including LOTO and confined space entry
• Advanced understanding of mechanical applications and principles including part identification
• Strong work ethic related to attendance and performance of duties with minimal supervision
• Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists
• Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form, including technical instructions in mathematical form and blueprints
• Working knowledge of electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety including demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used in electrical, electronic, and mechanical trades
