About the role
Performs a variety of working level, technical, and skilled duties as needed to assure the effective and efficient operation of process, packaging, shipping, equipment and machinery.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled duties in support of all process, packaging, plant equipment. Provide timely assistance to all equipment operators in a professional manner.
- Maintains equipment operations; studies equipment manuals and specifications, blueprints, schematics and diagrams as needed to resolve equipment malfunctions. Monitor spare parts received and issue inventory locations, assist maintenance clerk in insuring inventory accuracy. Develop and maintain effective relationship with vendors.
- Evaluate engineering alternatives and make recommendations to Supervisor.
- Aid in installations of electrical and mechanical systems as needed.
- Train equipment operators in basic and routine procedures for making adjustments and tuning of equipment for optimum performance.
- Any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, and a minimum of 1 year experience in a maintenance role.
- Completion of specialized training in a mechanical engineering or electrical automation field through formal apprenticeships, professionally sponsored workshops, vocational training, college, or in-service programs.
Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of electrical automation and mechanical engineering concepts, theories, practices and procedures.
- Ability to avoid and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with operators, technicians, vendors and management.
- Works under the general guidance and direction of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ability to work long hours, weekends and/or on call.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Forklift certified.
Physical Demands
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Work Environment
Generally performs in an open manufacturing facility and participates in the maintenance and adjusting of equipment. Tasks include: walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, climbing and lifting. Normal eye, hand, and finger dexterity are required. Some exposure to high voltage, pneumatic, hydraulic, stored pressure systems will exist. Exposure to mechanical pinch points will exist.
