About the Role

This is a highly skilled position that involves a combination of electrical and mechanical duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment. Responsibilities include performing scheduled preventative maintenance, production equipment changeovers, troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical problems, maintaining records, and promoting good housekeeping habits.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment to meet or exceed company-established safety culture and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) expectations.
  • Follow Lock Out/Block Out/Tag Out policy, electrical safety procedures, and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Proactively address unsafe conditions and confront unsafe behaviors in the facility.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical equipment including power and control wiring, motors, controls, and electronic devices.
  • Troubleshoot PLC and other electronic systems, including programming machine logic systems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, parts manuals, blueprints, sketches, hydraulic diagrams, and machine manuals.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and process problems with equipment.
  • Use power tools safely to avoid injury or harm.
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks as outlined by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Evaluate production reports to address and correct causes of production inefficiencies.
  • Continually evaluate equipment for improvement areas and tag components needing repair or replacement.
  • Perform scheduled production equipment mold changeovers as directed.
  • Maintain building maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain records to support Computerized Maintenance Management Software (EAM), including work orders and parts management.
  • Coordinate with Production and Maintenance Managers for equipment training and employee development.
  • Provide suggestions for training topics and actively participate in personal development.
  • Participate in plant teams and activities including safety, quality, sustainability, OEE, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Operate Powered Industrial Truck, Boom Lift, and Scissor Lift per OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain production equipment to ensure it operates properly to meet quality specifications.
  • Identify and remove non-conforming equipment impacting safety, food safety, or product quality from service until repaired or replaced.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), personnel practices, HACCP, and prerequisite food safety programs.
  • Prevent foreign material contamination through proper tool and part reconciliation and hardware securement.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area through effective housekeeping, sanitization, and waste management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and technical certifications applicable to servicing industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience with advanced skills in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified training in electrical safety procedures and adherence to Electrical Safety Standards and Policies, including Arc Flash.
  • Ability to work promptly and regularly, take direction, and work well with others under deadline stress.
  • Ability to concentrate, perform accurately, and react productively to change.

Skills

  • Sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism, and self-motivation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Experience with PLC and machine logic systems.
  • Proficient in using power tools safely.
  • Effective communication and coordination with management and production teams.

Physical Demands

  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and equipment; requires good body agility.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
  • Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving over long distances to accomplish tasks.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to move objects.
  • Lifting: Raising objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Grasping/Fingering: Applying pressure with fingers and hands or working primarily with fingers.
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects by touch.
  • Talking/Hearing: Expressing ideas through spoken word and perceiving sounds accurately.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements of the arms, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Vision: Capable of seeing small defects at close distances and analyzing data.

Working Conditions

  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, including extreme heat (temperatures above 100°F for periods over one hour).
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils.

Pay

Pay Range: $26.30 - $38.65 per hour.
