Responsibilities
- Perform advanced mechanical maintenance to support the plant facility, adopting a proactive approach to prevent repairs.
- Install, replace, and troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems with minimal supervision, using hand tools and testing instruments.
- Dismantle machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts.
- Ensure all work complies with established safety procedures and inspect completed work for conformance with local building and safety codes.
- Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance on complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems.
- Fabricate and assemble equipment, including welding, cutting, and pipe fitting.
- Perform emergency repairs on process equipment.
- Inspect facility equipment daily, performing production startup and coverage tasks.
- Troubleshoot repairs involving PLC, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic components.
- Use prints, specifications, and verbal instructions to make repairs to plumbing and electrical systems, including pipe installation, threading, soldering, and cutting.
- Assist in the installation of equipment.
- Clean and lubricate parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Follow all food safety principles as specified by the Quality Practitioner and report any food or human safety concerns to appropriate personnel (e.g., QA technician, Safety Manager, Ops Manager).
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge, including familiarity with electrical schematics.
- Working fundamentals of troubleshooting PLCs.
- Basic boiler safety knowledge.
- Experience with welding (sanitary TIG, Stick, and MIG) and basic plumbing/HVAC knowledge.
- Understanding of lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Ability to make decisions regarding the sequence of maintenance operations within standard practice limits.
- Ability to work in disagreeable conditions, including dust, noise, fumes, and vibrations.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills using thinking and reasoning.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Minimum of three years of industrial equipment experience.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
- Some travel may be required.

- Sitting and climbing or balancing under 1/3 of the time.
- Walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
- Standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time.
