Maintenance Tech II

About the role

The Distribution Center Maintenance II Technician is responsible for performing general and preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, structures, and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs on equipment
• Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, lights, outlets, circuit breakers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of equipment under proper supervision
• Complete minor and routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, cleaning equipment
• Paint, plaster and perform other building and grounds maintenance functions including plumbing and carpentry
• Perform basic inspections, preventive maintenance and minor repairs to material handling batteries, changing equipment, and conveying systems
• Absorb and assist skilled maintenance personnel in disassembling, assembling, installing and maintaining pipe systems, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Absorb and assist skilled maintenance personnel in repairs and replacements of gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
• Absorb and assist skilled maintenance personnel with scheduled and preventive maintenance of equipment, machinery, electrical systems and structures using blueprints, diagrams, manuals and written instructions while adhering to all safety guidelines to ensure efficient operations
• Absorb and assist skilled maintenance personnel in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions of equipment and machinery
• Ensure all hazardous material in the Maintenance Department is stored in a flammable storage cabinet at the end of each shift or when not in use

Qualifications

• Must possess or pass the Basic Mechanical and Industrial Mechanical Skill Assessment
• Knowledge of Conveyor systems, security controls, fire protection, building, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and other related equipment and structures
• Basic understanding of hand, power and shop tools
• Ability to read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Ability to follow all Company, State and Federal safety rules and regulations and wear safety personal protective equipment when required
• Ability to use computer maintenance managing software to procure parts, generate and update work orders
• General administrative, organizational and communication skills
• Work various shifts, departments and locations, as required
• Overtime, weekends and holidays as required

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• One to two years related experience and/or training
• Minimum one year of maintenance experience in a distribution center or industrial maintenance preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Physical Demands

• Sit and talk or hear
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds

Work Environment

• Moving mechanical parts
• Moving electrical equipment in both high and low voltage/amperage ranges
• High places
• Fumes or airborne particles
• Toxic or caustic chemicals

Pay Range

25.00-32.00 USD per hour
