Maintenance Tech II: Affordable Housing; Meadows at Montbello

About the role
The Building Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all VOA facilities under the direction of the supervisor or lead maintenance technician. Ensures buildings, equipment, and grounds are safe and in good repair at all times. May supervise volunteers and monitors facilities to ensure they meet all safety and health requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on affordable housing facilities, equipment, and grounds, requiring working knowledge of appliances, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, landscaping, and janitorial.
- Identify and address safety-related issues that present a possible hazard to clients, employees, facilities, or the public.
- Assist in monitoring apartment make-ready schedule to ensure timely rent-ready units.
- Assist in monitoring service requests to ensure 24-hour completion.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual preventive maintenance.
- Ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner that complies with agency standards.
- Attend meetings and staff development activities as assigned, utilizing a teamwork orientation.
- Maintain proper work order procedures and related documentation according to Volunteers of America guidelines.
- Maintain exceptional building and grounds curb appeal.
- Carry out after-hours, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage as scheduled.
- Act as a mentor to Maintenance Technician I.
- Inventory building supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of previous maintenance technician experience.
- Knowledge of all hand and power tools and their uses.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License, insurance verification, and good driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain good relations with residents and employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of direct experience in building maintenance or a trade school certificate.
- CFC certifications desired.
- CAMT certification desired.
Skills
- Basic reading, writing, and math aptitude.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work-related travel required.
- Capable of using an extension ladder to make repairs as needed.
- Must be able to perform emergency maintenance.
- Physical activities include bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, crouching, squatting, lifting (30 to 50 pounds), balancing, standing, sitting, hand/foot motions, walking.
- Visual abilities: close and distant vision, detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess, estimate, depth perception.
- Hearing/listening and speaking/shouting for communication.
- Use of hands/fingers for grasping, holding, touching.
- Cognitive abilities: thinking, calculating, memory/recall.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
Schedule
- Full-time position, expected to work Monday through Friday.
- Required to provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage as scheduled or needed.
- Expected to work additional hours in preparation for any upcoming REAC inspection at any or all facilities.
Pay
$26.00-$28.00/hr
