About the role

The Maintenance Tech I will assist with repair, maintenance, welding, and fabrication services as needed to meet the objectives of Gainey's Concrete Products. The job holder is expected to efficiently accomplish daily fabrications as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and VP of Operations.

Responsibilities

• Always meet or exceed the safety, quality, housekeeping, and production efficiency objectives while maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
• Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work.
• Use hand tools, hoists, jacks, and other power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust machines.
• Fabrication from semi-finished or raw materials by way of cutting, folding, machining, shearing, MIG and stick welding, etc.
• Troubleshoot and repair machines, including when unexpected issues arise.
• Read work orders, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine necessary work procedures.
• Ensure operating safety devices function properly upon completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
• Resolve routine equipment issues.
• Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain shop tools and equipment.
• Offload trucks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned, sometimes outside maintenance scope.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of work experience.
• Self-motivated, positive attitude, helpful, and strong organizational and planning skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to multitask and provide attention to accuracy and detail.
• General carpentry skills such as using a table saw, miter saw, and circular saw.
• Automotive and industrial mechanical skills.
• Able to use various tools and machinery such as hand tools, electric, and pneumatic impacts for assembly and fabrication.
• Ability to remove tires and wheels from equipment.
• Able to read and interpret production drawings.
• Ability to work under strict deadlines and occasionally work longer than the normal schedule.
• Able to accurately read a tape measure.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated, working independently without supervision, energetic, positive attitude, and helpful in all areas of the warehouse.
• Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills used in a diverse team working environment.
• Bilingual helpful.
• Ability to learn basic rigging and concrete repair techniques.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing & electrical work, such as repairing leaking water lines, replacing electrical outlets, and light fixtures.
• Basic knowledge of operating heavy equipment, such as tractors, excavators, skid steer, and forklift (preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to complete a 7-year background check and pass pre-employment drug testing.
