Maintenance Tech I
About the Role
The Maintenance Tech I performs skilled maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of facility systems, conveyors, and production equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role supports preventive maintenance programs, maintains accurate parts and inventory schedules, and works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan, prioritize, and source maintenance projects, both internally and with external vendors. The position contributes to minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and upholding safety and compliance standards throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, facility systems, and material handling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods.
- Inspect, test, and maintain facility infrastructure including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and building components.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment performance within the maintenance management system.
- Monitor and manage maintenance parts inventory; assist in ordering, tracking, and restocking materials as needed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance tasks and projects.
- Assist in sourcing vendors, coordinating external service providers, and ensuring timely completion of contracted work.
- Support installation, modification, and upgrading of new and existing equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize downtime and support production operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of industrial, facility, or conveyor maintenance experience.
- Experience with conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and building systems preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to operate power tools, diagnostic equipment, and forklifts safely.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. individually.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
