Maintenance Tech - Day Shift
About the Role
Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, specializing in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. This position is based in Norwalk, Iowa, a southern suburb of the Des Moines metropolitan area, at a facility producing high-quality precooked egg patties and various French Toast products.
The Maintenance Technician L1 (MTL1) provides both maintenance and reliability services within the plant, focusing on asset health improvement. This role ensures operational excellence while partnering with the plant maintenance team, operational team, and other support teams. The MTL1 is responsible for executing facility preventive and corrective maintenance programs, technical troubleshooting, equipment installation, adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects.
This position requires availability to work scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays as necessary, and compliance with all safety, food safety, and quality policies.
Schedule
Day Shift: 2-2-3 rotation, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, working 14-15 days per month.
Responsibilities
- Participate with the reliability and maintenance team to improve personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost in alignment with company objectives.
- Contribute to the advancement of the Michael Foods, Inc. (MFI) and Asset Reliability & Maintenance (ARM) culture.
- Learn, execute, and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques, ensuring procedural compliance and adherence to job tolerances.
- Perform technical troubleshooting tasks with experienced maintenance personnel.
- Actively participate in maintenance training for personnel.
- Follow reliability procedures for critical spares and parts.
- Assist in implementing quality commissioning procedures for rebuilt or new equipment.
- Support maintenance craftsmen during precision maintenance assignments.
- Utilize MFI-approved CMMS to manage, document, and support reliability reporting and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records as required.
- Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to drive continuous asset reliability improvement.
- Promote and foster Michael Foods' culture, values, and principles while demonstrating safe work behaviors.

- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health into all job tasks.
- Follow quality work practices, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is upheld.

Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate, or experience demonstrating technical aptitude preferred.
- 1 year of experience as an industrial maintenance technician preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams preferred.
- Prior experience in SAP preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
