Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team of mechanics to support manufacturing operations, increasing productivity and reducing downtime and scrap.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic machines, electric motors, conveyors, and related equipment.
- Perform tasks in plumbing, metalworking, mechanics, and electrical systems as assigned.
- Minimize downtime through routine preventive maintenance and collaboration with operators to ensure peak machine performance while maintaining safety standards.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to maintain continuity among work teams.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies, and anticipate future needs in coordination with other mechanics.
- Take an active role in plant and facilities-related work, including root cause failure analysis to prevent recurring maintenance issues.
- Adhere to all company safety rules and maintain shop and equipment per 5S standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Ability to collaborate closely with other maintenance mechanics on a daily basis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to share ideas for resolving critical issues.
- Excellent communication with operators and mechanics.
- Initiative to drive equipment improvements and work cross-functionally to identify and resolve manufacturing problems.
- Willingness to participate in company-sponsored training, self-study, and apprenticeship programs to develop required skills.
- Must provide own tools.
- Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment and demonstrate leadership in quality improvement.
- Work with urgency to reduce machine downtime.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5–8 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably with packaging or manufacturing equipment.
- Able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Schedule
Shift varies based on facility needs; operates on a 10-hour, 4-day work week.
Pay
Hourly pay rate: $29.39 per hour.
