Maintenance Tech B
About the role
The Maintenance Technician B works under supervision to perform repair and maintenance tasks on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. Responsibilities include chassis component repair, refuse body maintenance, engine work, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, HVAC components, and basic tire work.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a working knowledge of and proficiency in various vehicle components and systems.
- Diagnose and repair multi-system issues using electronic tools.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on chassis components, refuse bodies, engines, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, HVAC components, and tires.
- Provide on-site and on-road road service to ensure equipment is returned to operation safely and efficiently.
- Complete applicable Company training programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
Requirements
- Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
- Prior experience with or knowledge of maintenance work on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
- Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a technician position or graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in some of the following heavy truck or automotive systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.
