About the role
This role ensures that SHD industrial machines and equipment run smoothly and reliably at the Mooresville, North Carolina manufacturing facility. The position supports a growing global manufacturer of advanced composite pre-impregnated (prepreg) materials, supplying high-quality prepreg with fast turnaround times and world-class technical support.
Responsibilities
- Perform breakdown, planned, and preventative maintenance on production machinery.
- Work in accordance with company Quality and Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Safely install and maintain main production and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct fast, effective electrical/mechanical fault finding; identify root causes and implement preventative solutions.
- Inform the Production Manager if a shutdown is required and ensure all plant and equipment is safe before handing back to production.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate spares inventory and ensure proper storage locations.
- Practice continuous improvement and innovation; proactively offer solutions to operational problems.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested.
Work Environment / Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physical work for extended periods.
- Possible weekend work and overtime required.
- Ability to frequently bend, lift, and reach.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift items up to 55 lbs.
- Must have good vision and hearing.
- Ability to work in a typical manufacturing environment on concrete floors.
- Ability to frequently push and pull items up to 105 lbs using lifting equipment.
- Ability to reliably receive and give urgent communications in a factory environment.
- Ability to detect abnormalities and safety signals using visual, tactile, or auditory senses.
Skills and Ability
- Maintain all production and facility equipment to support manufacturing needs.
- Perform diagnostic evaluation on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment and make necessary repairs.
- Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills (Mechanical, Electrical, PLC, Inverter, and Process).
- Ability to read and comprehend procedures, blueprints, and manuals.
- Experience performing PMs and repairs.
- Adherence to safety procedures.
- Responsible for daily housekeeping and other assigned duties.
- Self-managing and able to work within a team.
- Clear and effective communicator.
- Experience in the installation of new production lines.
- Welding experience (preferred).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; two-year technical degree or enrollment preferred.
- Experience may substitute for degree.
- Line controls experience (PLCs, servomotors, VFDs, panels, etc.).
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic electrical skills including motor control, electrical distribution, and machinery installation.
- Mechanical skills including repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to write and document procedures, reports, and correspondence.
- Passion for SHD Composite Materials.
- Friendly, flexible team player with a can-do attitude.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with flexibility required at peak periods.
Pay
Hourly wage between $24 and $30.
