About the role
Since 1892, OPW has been a global leader in fluid-handling solutions, serving customers worldwide. The role is based at our Whitsett, North Carolina facility.
Responsibilities
- Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment at the proper intervals.
- Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Review production schedule and perform necessary change overs of equipment to needed SKUs or scheduled maintenance PMs or upgrades.
- Test equipment for proper operation and safety.
- Clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework. Verify equipment functionality prior to returning to operations after repairs, change over, or machine adjustments.
- Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms.
- Check product for visual defects.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor, and take appropriate action.
- Analyze and record root cause of production delays on daily production reports.
- Repair and adjust small machines, such as drill presses, punch presses, grinding and buffing heads, riveters, bench power and hand tools, involving replacement of bearings, spindles, electrical switches, etc.
- Work from drawings, sketches, specifications, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
- Use scale, square, levels, miscellaneous power bench tools, wrenches, carpentry tools, etc., apply oil and grease to equipment in absence of oiler and greaser.
- Perform product examination and rework when line is down due to causes beyond mechanic’s control.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledgeable in skilled trades.
- Well-rounded knowledge of practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of building codes is desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Basic reading, writing, and computation skills.
- Effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
