Maintenance Tech

About the role

Encore at Parkside is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Technician to ensure the overall upkeep of residential apartments and public areas through responsive, accurate, and efficient maintenance. This role involves performing routine and emergency repairs, assisting with HVAC equipment, and maintaining the physical condition of all on-site buildings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and public areas, including correcting electrical malfunctions, repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures, pipes, and fittings, replacing light bulbs and fixtures, and repairing doors and locks.
• Assist in providing initial response for malfunction of residential HVAC equipment, including resets and simple repairs.
• Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failure.
• Complete all work orders in a timely manner, providing detailed information about tasks performed and equipment used.
• Assist other maintenance personnel with projects or repairs, including campus snow removal.
• Maintain proper levels of materials and supplies to ensure timely and efficient task completion.
• Work scheduled and "on-call" overtime as necessary.
• Perform additional duties as requested by the Supervisor or Executive Director to ensure effective community operations.
• Maintain dependable and punctual attendance as outlined in the Attendance policy.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of residential building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, flooring, and appliances.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
• Ability to work under general supervision.
• Flexibility, integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment complex, commercial building construction, or maintenance.
• Preference given to candidates with HVAC/Electrical certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; assistance or equipment required for weights over 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and walk extensively.
• Ability to push, pull, climb, and descend ladders up to 6-8 feet or higher.

Working Conditions

• May be exposed to occasional unsanitary conditions, unpleasant odors, and hazardous chemicals.
