About the role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe repair and troubleshooting of maintenance equipment, including installation, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and decommissioning of equipment and machinery.
Responsibilities
- Provides hands-on involvement and completion of tasks and/or direction to contractor(s) or service companies performing or assisting with projects.
- Performs service work in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, pipe fitting, carpentry, plumbing, welding & fabrication, sheet metal working, machining, rigging, erection, HVAC, refrigeration, and related areas.
- Takes a proactive approach to safety in all work activities.
- Assists in the start-up and shutdown of facilities as needed.
- Handles administrative tasks such as parts/material/service ordering, scheduling, researching and purchasing, and maintaining records, files, manuals, and shop-related items.
- Maintains organization of the Maintenance Crib & Office, ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition and consumable parts are in inventory.
- Maintains all shop process control instrument calibration requirements.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and enforces industry guidelines (OSHA, ANSI, EPA, NFPA, OCWD, TS16949: 2002 Standards).
- Ensures 6S, housekeeping, and health and safety standards are maintained.
- Operates in alignment with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model.
- Performs other duties as required and works overtime as directed by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year college degree or applicable technical training/certification preferred.
- Two-plus years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
- Electrical and hydraulic experience necessary; ability to troubleshoot and repair issues.
- Experience with rubber and/or plastic extrusion/injection molding and extrusion equipment preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CMMS (MP2, SAP) software experience a plus.
- Forklift/Lift Truck/Aerial Lift operator experience a plus.
- Ability to read metric and imperial prints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
- Positive teamwork and attitude to support a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
Work Environment
- Professional office environment with requirements to wear proper personal protection equipment on the manufacturing floor.
- Travel to offsite locations may be required.
- Equipment used requires proper training to avoid injury.
