Maintenance Tech

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician at Steelhaven, a premier luxury high-rise apartment community in downtown Birmingham, is responsible for completing service requests, performing preventative maintenance, assisting with apartment make-readies, and ensuring the community remains clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Essential Responsibilities

• Complete resident service requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance, drywall, flooring, and general maintenance issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Assist with apartment turns, inspections, and make-ready projects.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of common areas, amenities, and exterior grounds.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as part of an on-call rotation.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work orders.
• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.

Qualifications

• EPA Certification (Required)
• Minimum of 2 years of apartment maintenance or related maintenance experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and general building maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing stairs, ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
