Overview

Volvo Circular Charlotte specializes in the remanufacturing of diesel engines and transmissions, and other Volvo Group sub-components. This position works Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with an expectation to be on call as needed.

Role Purpose

As a Maintenance Technician I, you will support the Volvo remanufacturing operation by performing preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting in keeping production running safely and efficiently. You will work in accordance with Volvo Operations Concept, Standard Operating Procedures, and established safety and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, values continuous improvement, and takes pride in maintaining reliable equipment and a well-organized and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs reactive and preventive maintenance on machines and production equipment.
  • Records, reports, and acts on solutions for damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines and fills out the appropriate documentation.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Collaborates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines, utilizing the maintenance database system.
  • Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Good communication skills/collaboration skills.
  • Flexible with ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Education And Experience

Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to reach with arms and hands.
  • Required to sit, climb, balance and crouch.

Safety

  • Safety glasses required while grinding, steaming, using blow nozzles, or around others performing similar tasks.
  • Safety glasses in cleaning building and machine shop at all times.
  • Safety shoes always required.
  • Special attention to noise levels, hearing protection required in specific areas or operations.
  • Continuous elevated level of alertness.
  • Lock out tag out management and adherence.

Pay

The base pay for this position is set at $21.24 - $28.73/hour, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
