Maintenance Supervisor (Second Shift)

Responsibilities
- Lead and perform tasks related to the installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of mechanical, electrical, environmental controls, and health & safety systems.
- Ensure facilities and equipment comply with regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., IATF16949, ISO14001, MIOSHA).
- Support plant safety, quality, production attainment, and cost goals through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Implement and maintain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs, Standard Work, and 5S methodologies.
- Develop and schedule Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities to reduce downtime and costs.
- Manage work orders, parts inventory, and spare part planning to ensure availability and efficiency.
- Coordinate with contractors, oversee shift-to-shift communication, and minimize machine downtime.
- Establish maintenance schedules, resource assignments, and departmental KPIs (e.g., MTTR, MTBF).
- Conduct Layered Process Audits (LPAs) and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train and engage operations employees in autonomous maintenance activities.
- Maintain facility contingency plans, respond to emergencies, and ensure compliance with environmental and sanitation regulations.
- Supervise hourly facilities maintenance mechanics, including hiring, training, performance appraisals, and conflict resolution.
- Promote Magna’s Common Values, Employee Charter, and recognition programs.
- Participate in business planning, MAFACT implementation, and lean manufacturing activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Journeyman designation or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of related work experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with TPM systems for equipment and facilities maintenance.
- Knowledge of metal stamping, assembly, CNC machining, and welding.
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification to be achieved within 1 year.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AS400 Database software.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including 5 Why analysis and root cause identification.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, regulations, and professional journals.
- Mathematical proficiency in geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and practical applications (e.g., ratios, percentages).
- Ability to work with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical Demands
The role requires frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, and use a computer. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, with the ability to adjust focus. The position involves exposure to an office setting and plant floor, with moderate to loud noise levels, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and potential electrical hazards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversees all hourly facilities maintenance mechanics and maintenance positions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching, training, performance appraisals, and conflict resolution in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
