About the role
This position supervises and maintains the Camarillo facility, including greenhouses, service buildings, packaging facilities, boiler rooms, and grounds.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist the maintenance team.
- Assist in supervising and completing new projects.
- Oversee and complete assigned maintenance tasks for all facility assets.
- Manage spare parts and material inventory for irrigation systems, welding shop, and facility equipment.
- Complete maintenance requests from various departments.
- Anticipate repairs and replacements for facility assets.
- Assist in implementing preventative maintenance programs for machinery and mechanical systems.
- Ensure implementation of safety protocols in the maintenance department.
- Ensure employees operate maintenance machinery safely and within compliance requirements.
- Plan employee shifts to ensure emergency coverage.
- Assist in managing and solving operational issues in Greenhouse and Packhouse departments.
- Propose ideas and solutions to mitigate operational issues.
- Maintain worksite safety, food safety, hygiene protocols, and compliance standards.
- Ensure employees follow established policies and procedures while encouraging quality and continuous improvement.
- Determine staffing requirements, work assignments, and schedules.
- Supervise ongoing training and development of the Maintenance team.
- Monitor and mentor employees while providing feedback.
- Use required PPE per OSHA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a self-starter with minimal supervision, able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to assess problems and determine root causes.
- Ability to work under stress when equipment fails.
- Ability to work in greenhouse conditions with high humidity, varying temperatures, and moisture.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
- Must be 21+ years old.
- Willingness to work weekends and odd hours as needed.
- Flexible availability for work hours.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- 40-hour minimum work week.
- Ability to write and communicate effectively with the team.
Qualifications
- Well-versed in all maintenance processes and health and safety regulations.
- Solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and other crafts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of technical equipment and climate control systems in greenhouses.
- General knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic installations.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Welding and fabricating skills.
- Bilingual preferred.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to use tools necessary to perform work tasks.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 15-50 pounds.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods as job duties require.
- Ability to fit through a manhole cover.
Work Environment
- Work environment includes conditions typically found in greenhouses with high humidity and varying temperatures.
- Occasional travel between the office and farm sites may be required.
