The Opportunity

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee maintenance operations using precision and preventative maintenance to maximize plant and production equipment uptime. In this role, you will be a servant leader impacting the development of craftsmen by providing coaching to ensure adherence to preferred maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and safety.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock

  • Assist and provide direction to craftsmen with equipment troubleshooting to mitigate downtime.
  • Monitor and approve inventory orders to control storeroom spend according to planned budget.
  • Ensure compliance and proper use of parts and equipment according to preferred maintenance practices.
  • Oversee craftsmen’s compliance with corporate, division, plant safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Lead development and implementation of continuous process improvement of reliability plans in the plant.
  • Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals by effectively leading craftsmen to align on objectives.
  • Lead safety efforts by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings, and coordinating maintenance related safety activities.
  • Provide leadership and coaching in safety, training, and work allocation to uphold the standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees.
  • Collaborate with operations and mechanical leaders to plan, schedule and execute daily and break-in work and to increase measured reliability metrics.

What you need to succeed

  • 2-year Technical Degree in a Maintenance related discipline - Preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment with Mechanical, Electrical experience - Required.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance techniques and equipment (i.e., pumps, valves, motors, gear boxes) - Required
  • Experience with PM program and software (ie. JDE, SAP, etc) - Preferred
  • Safety mindset with thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures
  • Initiative to problem solve and take independent action.
  • Great communication with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Able to exhibit a ‘can-do’ approach and inspire others to excel.
  • Must be organized with great time management to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be available for on-call situations and working every other weekend for preventative maintenance.
