About the Role
You will lead our maintenance team by execution of safe, efficient property operations in all weather conditions. This job allows you to adapt to various departments and areas across our property. The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, an Averill Hospitality Resort, is Montana's premier lakefront, leisure and outdoor activity destination. The Lodge is a 4-star hotel located only 5 minutes from downtown Whitefish and 10 minutes from Whitefish Ski Resort. Responsibilities
- Maintain in good working order and condition all areas of hotel utilities and basic functions including electrical, plumbing, telephone, HVAC, audio systems, outdoor irrigation, elevators, alarm systems, pool systems, and all Guest Room amenities requiring maintenance.
- Monitor the scope of work and pace of completion of tasks that come through the Work Order System; ensure timely completion while exercising discretion in management of time and resources; adhere to procedure and diligence regarding system key functions.
- Perform daily morning inspection and checking of the following systems: hot water systems; HVAC systems; heating systems; elevators; fire systems; sewer system checks; and fuel system check.
- Have daily control of the Maintenance Staff and their priorities and workload; exhibit initiative regarding assignment of and accountability for tasks and work orders.
- Make continued effort to enhance the training and abilities of other members of the Maintenance Department.
- Make continued efforts to assess the strengths of each member of the Maintenance Department and put tasks in line with strengths to increase productivity and odds of success.
- Report directly to the Facilities Manager; in some instances, provide technical expertise briefings and reports to the General Manager and the Board of Directors.
- Occasional tasks related to ordering and purchasing will require offsite meetings and trips (Lodge vehicles provided).
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in the construction industry is essential.
- Working knowledge of all or several of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, telephone, HVAC, audio, outdoor irrigation, alarm systems, pool and spa.
- Basic computer skills and experience with hand tools.
- Ability to perform routine duties independently.
- Ability to set priorities and schedule own work in accordance with established policies and procedures requiring regular interpretation.
- Sound judgment, thoroughness, and competence.
- Ability to work effectively and productively with others and interface with all departments requiring maintenance functions.
- Full knowledge of the importance of work performance and the serious impact that failure to perform effectively may have on hotel operations, interdepartmental relations, and the efficient use of resources.
- Trustworthy, honest, and reliable.
- Work well with co-workers; always be courteous, helpful, and considerate to guests and co-workers.
