About the role

The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for safety, routine, and major maintenance activities within their assigned area. They will supervise Planners and Technicians, working closely with Area Operations to maintain customer satisfaction, optimize spending, and improve work efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and manages overall maintenance efforts and hourly workforce within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensures maintenance activities comply with Shintech policies and procedures.
  • Addresses equipment mechanical problems and oversees planning, scheduling, and execution of routine and major maintenance activities.
  • Improves work efficiency by collaborating with the warehouse to enhance material deliveries and stock management.
  • Ensures the Maintenance Workflow Process is followed correctly to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Manages emergent and urgent work within their area of responsibility.
  • Develops the next day’s work list from the weekly schedule and communicates it to Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Optimizes spending and tracks work progress, documenting lessons learned for future planning.
  • Oversees backlog management and develops repair timelines for critical equipment.
  • Maintains equipment history and records for future repairs.
  • Evaluates, mentors, coaches, and provides feedback to Planners and Technicians.
  • Ensures aggressive daily/weekly schedules are developed and followed.
  • Reviews KPIs, corrects schedule disruptions, and resolves barriers in their area of responsibility.
  • Assists with sharing craft resources and improves work order priorities and resource allocation.
  • Manages overtime to reduce percentages and improves communication between Maintenance and other departments (Operations, Engineering, Safety, etc.).
  • Acts as Maintenance Superintendent in their absence and attends meetings as requested.
  • Collaborates with Electrical, Instrument, Analyzer, and Mechanical Supervisors regarding craft workforce needs and support.
  • Assists with general contractor workforce development.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience and background in the mechanical field.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in the mechanical field in a chemical plant.
  • Supervisor experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
  • Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
  • Required to be medically certified for respirator use and medically fit for duty.
  • Use of PPE required in specific areas.
