Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support execution of the plant's preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
- Ensure production equipment, utilities, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support production schedules
- Lead front-line troubleshooting efforts and assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures
- Provide daily and weekly downtime reports for equipment and maintenance generated downtime
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities to reduce downtime and extend asset life
- Ensure accurate equipment histories, work orders, and maintenance documentation are maintained in the CMMS
- Responsible for tracking progress toward timely work order completions
- Support reliability-centered maintenance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Review equipment data and provide input on equipment care strategies and improvements
- Food Safety, Quality, & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities align with all food safety and regulatory requirements including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA and facility sanitation policies
- Partner with Quality and Sanitation teams to align maintenance activities with plant operations
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation, equipment condition, and compliance
- Oversee contractor work to ensure adherence to plant safety, food safety, and maintenance standards
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team, reinforcing accountability, skill growth, and safety ownership
- Assist with employee training, shift scheduling, task assignment, and performance feedback
- Responsible for conducting weekly maintenance department meetings regarding to cover department updates
- Build a positive culture that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous learning
- Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, and Maintenance leadership to support daily operations
- Financial & Resource Management
- Assist with monitoring maintenance labor, spare parts usage, and departmental expenses
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and manage vendor relationships
- Identify cost-effective maintenance solutions while maintaining safety and equipment reliability
- 3-5 years of maintenance leadership experience in food manufacturing or other regulated production environments
- Strong knowledge of processing and packaging equipment, utilities (boilers, compressed air), and automation systems
- Hands-on knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, HVAC, and PLC troubleshooting
- Experience managing regulatory compliance in FDA/USDA-regulated facilities
- Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and food safety regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with FIIX systems and reliability-centered maintenance practices
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices preferred
- High energy, initiative, and ability to drive results with limited guidance
