About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will provide technical direction to maintain the entire Boardman Plant processing operation, Port and facility. Supervises and coordinates Maintenance activities to ensure Safety, Food Safety, quality, and productivity objectives are met. Through effective planning, problem-solving design, staffing, parts ordering and training keeps downtime at a minimum. Evaluates, recommends and implements changes to production and other equipment to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. The ideal candidate should be cost-conscious and able to critically analyze new and existing designs to generate cost reductions. This position should be able to develop innovative and practical design solutions to technical problems. Further, they should work well leading a team and be approachable. Ability to communicate effectively, engage and motivate the team will be required for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Directs technical efforts to maintain all equipment.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for facility maintenance.
  • Identify maintenance resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Order supplies and tools as necessary.
  • Assign work, and oversees the work product (while minimizing overtime).
  • Coach, counsel and manage performance of direct reports.
  • Train or coordinate training of facility maintenance regarding safety methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Coordinate projects and other special projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals, and reports.
  • Attend and participate in professional training/education; maintain awareness of new trends.
  • Coordinate corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • Demonstrate tact and diplomacy with the internal and external customers.
  • Directs building repairs and alterations.
  • Planning and organizing of the plant-wide overhaul.
  • Oversees construction and repair projects.
  • Arranges for outside contractors to carry out specific maintenance and repair projects.
  • Provides direction on future plans for plant and processing equipment.
  • Provides direction on keeping maintenance department within budget.
  • Compiles and maintains factual information on plant facilities.
  • Establishes and maintains maintenance standards on parts and procedures, implements and maintains Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Provides technical support and direction to maintenance mechanics, and non-exempt support personnel.
  • Food safety responsibility – ensures all maintenance programs are being utilized in an effective and efficient manner to ensure safety of all product being produced from facility.
  • Ensures maintenance programs follow "good manufacturing procedures".
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; BS/AA Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Technology/Engineering preferred. Applicable on the job experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 2-5 Years direct experience with Industrial Maintenance in a food plant. Should include planning, overhaul and equipment modification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • High degree of mechanical and organizational skills.
  • Broad knowledge of industrial electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC programming, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and risk management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot unusual mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various industrial environments.
  • Leadership & Management: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, schedule preventive maintenance, and manage vendors.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines, production personnel and executives, both internal and external is required.
  • Candidate should possess strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite. SAP experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other OFI facilities as needed, is required.
