About the Role

This position works closely with the Plant Manager, Plant Supervisors, Unit Accountant, and office staff to oversee the maintenance of the facility and all plant equipment. Responsibilities include managing the parts room, maintaining critical spare parts inventory, and coordinating mobile equipment and maintenance subcontractor activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to plant safety, design, construction, maintenance, and improvement of equipment and physical plant.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and oversee repair of complex robotic, automated, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
• Optimize equipment availability and improve maintenance costs for the operation.
• Create, maintain, and adjust cost-effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize production downtime and maximize productivity.
• Supervise maintenance employees, promote ongoing training, and participate hands-on with the maintenance crew.
• Retrofit and redesign existing equipment to enhance productivity at reduced costs.
• Oversee maintenance of buildings and grounds, utilizing in-house staff or outside contractors.
• Prepare and maintain short- and long-range engineering and maintenance budgets, including cost breakdowns by department.
• Maintain adequate levels of spare parts and materials through proper inventory management and storage.
• Establish standards and policies for pollution control in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including testing, operating procedures, and equipment inspection.
• Assist in procuring operating permits for the facility and its equipment.
• Safeguard the integrity of company assets in collaboration with the Plant Manager.

Requirements

• 5+ years of practical and supervisory experience in maintenance and plant engineering in heavy industry, preferably in brick, ceramics, refractories manufacturing, or a closely-related field.
• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering is beneficial.
• Knowledge of PLC and robotics preferred.
• Experience with budgeting, quality assurance, heat transfer, instrumentation, fuel consumption control, and computerized equipment installation and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with plant process improvement, statistical process control, and OSHA and environmental compliance.
