Maintenance Supervisor

Fortress Nutrition · New Berlin, WI · 2 wk ago
ManagementFull-time

About the role

Fortress Nutrition is growing, and we’re looking for a strong, hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and support daily operations. This is a working supervisor role, meaning you’ll be actively on the floor alongside your team – troubleshooting equipment, supporting repairs, and driving uptime in a fast-paced food/beverage manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe, efficient production operation.

Why This Role Stands Out: Leadership + hands-on impact! This is not a desk role – you will lead by example, working side-by-side with your team to solve problems, improve processes, and keep production running.

Schedule: 1st Shift Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:00pm. Must be available to support off-shift or emergency situations when necessary, including weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead Maintenance Technicians by setting expectations, coaching, and providing feedback
  • Actively work on the floor performing troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment support alongside the team
  • Assign technicians to production line calls based on priority and ensure timely resolution
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities
  • Plan and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, issues, and completed repairs
  • Support production teams with technical troubleshooting and process improvements
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs
  • Train and develop technicians to improve skill sets and overall team performance
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for repairs, installations, and projects
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance materials and equipment
  • Support capital projects, installations, and facility improvements
  • Ensure compliance with safety, GMP, and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, EPA, etc.)
  • Provide support for off-hours or emergency maintenance situations as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical/mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and production equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must be reliable, accountable, and able to lead by example
  • Ability to work overtime and support off-shift or emergency needs
  • Maintain a high sense of urgency and ownership, with immediate response to equipment issues, strong decision-making, and hands-on leadership to minimize downtime

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field
  • Experience in food, beverage, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Experience with high-speed packaging equipment and PLC systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and installing production lines
  • Strong machining and welding skills
  • Knowledge of GMPs, CFR, and food safety regulations
  • Project management experience with ability to drive initiatives to completion

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Frequent use of hands to operate tools and equipment
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing (stairs/platforms), and reaching
  • Talking, hearing; reaching above shoulders; using hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs

Work Environment

Exposure to dust, dry powder, and wet processes, as well as food allergens (e.g., dairy, soy, etc.). Climate-controlled facility; optional PPE (such as dust masks) available but not required.

Benefits

  • PTO Package with Carryover Option
  • 9 Paid Holidays
  • Medical, Dental & Vision (Affordable Family Coverage)
  • HSA Option with Quarterly Company Contributions
  • Company-Paid Life, AD&D, Short- & Long-Term Disability Insurance
