Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record system information as necessary, report any abnormal conditions, and ensure proper communication across shifts.
  • Work with Production Supervisors and Planners to estimate times of completion for maintenance activity and help establish equipment downtimes for maintenance to minimize the effect on operations.
  • Lead others effectively by setting priorities, creating, and managing work orders, delegating jobs, and follow-up to ensure good work practices are used and work is completed.
  • Ensure safe, efficient operation of high-speed packaging lines (baggers, weighers, conveyors, sealers, case packers, palletizers).
  • Diagnose, analyze, investigate, and correct most causes of malfunction of facilities and utilities equipment.
  • Keep work areas clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Isolate systems of all potential energy and hazards to ensure proper Lock-out/Tag-out for maintenance work.
  • Effectively manage departmental budget and deliver against defined objectives. Reduce maintenance costs through better planning, parts management, and reliability strategies.
  • Use data (CMMS) and observations to analyze problems and develop alternative solutions.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and develop maintenance personnel, mentoring employees, following discipline guidelines, enforcing attendance policies, setting an example by personal work ethic and professional interactions.
  • Work with other Supervisors, Planner, Engineering, and Management to implement best practices.
  • Maintain equipment in sanitary condition suitable for frozen food production.
  • Lead equipment upgrades, capital projects, and line modifications.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts.
  • Report to the Plant Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-based systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI interfaces.
  • Support and improve automation systems to increase line efficiency and reliability.
  • Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with department personnel.
  • Monitor warranties and service guarantees. Notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
  • Oversee a selective inventory monthly and verify with a computerized inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
  • Locate O.E.M. manufacturers and after-market distributors to obtain competitive costs.
  • Must have experience in material flows, continuous improvement practices; and process analysis.
  • Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment; Microsoft products experience preferred - Outlook-Word-Excel.
  • Track record of successful project management.
  • Ensure assigned departments perform tasks as outlined in Job Instruction Breakdowns, Quality Specifications, and Standard Operating Practices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain working understanding of a CMMS system. Document work completed, assign time, and assign parts to proper WO.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business and technical journals and financial reports.
  • Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures of fresh to frozen food processing and packaging.
  • Solid electrical troubleshooting skills (motors, controls, sensors, VFDs).
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting preferred (Allen-Bradley).
  • Experience with robotics, vision systems, or advanced automation preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience with high-speed packaging equipment.
  • Strong planning/Organization - Time Management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Competent computer navigation for HMI, CMMS, access procedure folder on network, and E-mail proficiency.
  • SAP experience preferred, or able to learn SAP applications.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred AA Technical Degree.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Must be able to work in a temperature range -15F to 120F. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Requires standing, stooping, twisting, lifting, and other physical movements requiring full range of motion.
  • Work Environment: Cold, refrigerated, and freezer environments. Fast-paced, high-volume production setting. Must be available for off-shift support, weekends, and emergency calls as needed. Industrial plant environment with related noise.
  • Travel Requirements: None.
