Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and ensuring completion of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities during their shift. This includes overseeing Line or Heavy maintenance to direct activities for the upkeep of Company-owned/leased aircraft, support equipment, and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the management of all areas of Line or Heavy maintenance to produce and direct activities for maintaining aircraft, support equipment, and facilities.
• Supervise the implementation of long- and short-range planning for Line or Heavy maintenance, including programs, objectives, and policies.
• Implement procedures to maintain high standards of aircraft maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with FAA, CommuteAir Maintenance Program, and manufacturers’ quality standards.
• Manage headcount requirements as determined by the Line or Heavy Maintenance Manager.
• Assist the Line or Heavy Maintenance Manager in managing the annual budget for maintenance operations at the assigned location.
• Identify, develop, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce costs, rework, and scrap.
• Supervise and monitor Line or Heavy maintenance to ensure alignment with the Maintenance Operations organization’s annual plan.
• Act as a liaison between internal and external department leaders to facilitate proper communication of decisions.
• Train, develop, and evaluate employees; take corrective actions as necessary within Company policy to address performance deficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and Company labor requirements.
• Coordinate the implementation of facility projects (e.g., hangar/shop layouts, installation of capital equipment, major repairs).
• Coordinate programs essential to operational sustainability and consistency (e.g., safety, cost reduction, security, 5S, training, employee involvement).
• Actively survey work progress using Self Audit Form CA-118 SUP, submitting it weekly to the Base Manager and Quality Assurance/CASS.
• Perform any maintenance action for which the supervisor is trained, qualified, or authorized.
• Approve parts requests for nonstocked parts.
• Remove aircraft from service when an unairworthy condition exists.
• Return Company aircraft and equipment to service under the privileges of their certificate and Company authorizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Current Airframe and Powerplant certificate with required Company authorizations.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and technical knowledge required for the role.
• Familiarity with Maintenance Policies and Procedures.
• One year of experience as a Certificated Mechanic or Repairman.
• Positive attitude toward productivity, safety, and quality of maintenance.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and government-issued passport.
• Organized with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
• Legally authorized to work in the USA.
• Must have own set of tools.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy Work: Exerting up to 70 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force regularly to move objects.
• Ability to safely drive tugs, trucks, and hangar equipment, taxi aircraft, and remain alert to moving vehicles and aircraft in the work area.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 lbs. regularly; bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, and kneel frequently, often in confined spaces.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to hear instructions in loud environments and detect fine differences in sound affecting aircraft repair or operation.
• Willingness to wear personal protection equipment when necessary.
• Visual acuity for inspection, close assembly, clerical administrative tasks, and operation of machines using measuring devices.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions, including extreme heat (above 100°F for extended periods) and extreme cold (below 32°F for extended periods).
• High noise levels, requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Exposure to vibration from oscillation movements of extremities or the whole body.
• Hazard awareness, including proximity to moving parts, electrical current, working on ladders, exposure to chemicals, and power equipment.
• Atmospheric conditions, including fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation for extended periods.
• Air and/or skin exposure to oils and other fluids.
• May be required to wear a respirator at times.
