About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor assists with all maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational potential for the entire plant. This includes functions in Maintenance Business Management, Maintenance Materials Inventory (MRO), Maintenance Recruit to Retire, Manufacturing Process Reliability, and Equipment Reliability—such as departmental budgets, computerized maintenance management systems, and preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance programs.

Additionally, the role involves Technical Skills Management of electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems (process and packaging equipment), waste treatment, stockroom, building and grounds, and utilities systems including boiler and ammonia refrigeration. The supervisor also assists with the development, coordination, and execution of maintenance-related capital budget items in collaboration with engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Directs maintenance personnel to ensure systems operate at peak capability to meet production schedules, quality, cost, and priority goals.
  • Improves reliability, maintenance, and processing methods to reduce costs and prevent production loss due to equipment failure.
  • Determines equipment capabilities, safety, and operational condition in coordination with supervisors and technicians.
  • Develops cost-effective preventive maintenance procedures to extend equipment operational life.
  • Seeks and implements continuous improvement of processes through equipment modifications.
  • Assists in developing system and operational standards and corrective actions.
  • Develops, implements, and regularly reviews site-specific maintenance logs for the department.
  • Coordinates, arranges, and supervises corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company procedures and financial considerations.
  • Provides maintenance training, including effective use of maintenance logs and routine facility-specific maintenance.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing machinery and equipment malfunctions.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for job completion.
  • Assists in preparing requisitions to determine spare parts inventory levels.
  • Maintains departmental operating budget at a positive variance by effectively utilizing workforce and equipment.
  • Assists with safety training, monthly safety meetings, and provides technical support for safety projects; supports implementation of the 9-key element process.
  • Evaluates long-term needs for major projects and factory improvements.
  • Ensures equipment and facilities are maintained in safe, operable condition or arranges for replacements/upgrades.
  • Establishes procedures and contacts for timely equipment repairs.
  • Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility systems maintenance and repair.
  • Directs workers in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Develops department employee relations through communication and monthly safety meetings; participates in Plant Safety and Ergonomics committees.
  • Analyzes production downtime reports, identifies opportunities, and initiates action plans to improve efficiencies.
  • Participates in the QRMP yearly audit and assists in developing procedures and corrective actions.
  • Oversees and leads implementation of the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system to achieve targeted RCR.
  • Assists business leaders with process improvement initiatives (Six Sigma/Lean/Kraft Heinz Management System).
  • Supervises Maintenance staff, including performance management and employee development.
  • Communicates with outside agencies such as contractors, equipment suppliers, technical consultants, and vendors.
  • Maintains close coordination with the Maintenance Manager, other supervisors, team members, and Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–5 years of related leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management system operations.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining TPM Systems is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems, is a plus.
  • Experience with direct and overhead cost systems.
  • Ability to use, troubleshoot, and program Allen Bradley PLCs is a plus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, afternoons, midnights, and weekends.

Pay

New Hire Base Salary Range: $77,800.00 – $97,300.00.

This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents. Compensation will consider internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
