The Supervisor coordinates the installation, maintenance, and repairs of all company machinery, equipment, tooling, and facility infrastructure. This role manages hourly maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations while supporting production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and prioritize work requests, ensuring required materials are available.
  • Follow up on work orders to meet quality, quantity, and timeline specifications.
  • Maintain and review stock inventory of spare parts, equipment, and materials.
  • Prepare manpower schedules and approve vacation requests.
  • Inspect facility areas to ensure adherence to housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Attend and contribute to daily production meetings.
  • Research materials to improve production processes, focusing on error-proofing, ergonomics, and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for tasks beyond internal maintenance capacity.
  • Champion new equipment and preventive maintenance programs; be on call 24/7, including weekends.
  • Prepare overtime equalization sheets, manage overtime requests, approve time sheets, vacations, and leaves of absence.
  • Adhere to supervisory guidelines and interpret equipment manuals/work orders for maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities (e.g., replacing light bulbs).
  • Use hand/power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment proficiently.
  • Detect and report faulty operations, defective materials, or unusual situations.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean work areas.
  • Manage building maintenance for new construction, renovations, or system updates; coordinate contractor activities.
  • Update project information, maintain files, and organize drawings for project support.
  • Support department management, project managers, and consultants as needed.
  • Update and maintain records in company systems and department databases.
  • Set priorities for preventive maintenance, requisitions, and scheduled work.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the maintenance department.
  • Requisition work through Purchasing and attend required meetings.
  • Coordinate with external entities (e.g., Fire Department, Hydro) as needed.
  • Complete departmental reports and records; drive company vehicles as required.
  • Oversee painting, decorating, and minor construction (e.g., carpentry, concrete work).
  • Maintain inventory of new equipment, manuals, and warranties.
  • Operate computerized preventive maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical components, appliances, and equipment.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance for electrical alarms and plumbing systems.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  • Organize mechanical and preventive maintenance for equipment (e.g., pumps, air handling systems).
  • Address safety concerns and determine optimal task completion methods.
  • Manage snow removal, ice safety, landscaping, and property aesthetics.
  • Handle short-term planning and communicate decisions to relevant authorities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Manage responsibilities related to the Environmental Management System (EMS) per policy CEVPL.00005.

Requirements

  • Community College diploma in a related field.
  • Five years of experience in a mechanical/electrical trade or equivalent related experience.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
