Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor I leads the skilled technical personnel in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery, tooling, equipment and building services in a safe and effective manner.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensures labor is managed efficiently and effectively.
- Provides guidance, direction and training to personnel in respective areas as needed.
- Ensures all work by skilled personnel is performed in a safe manner and in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Prioritizes maintenance activities in accordance with production requirements to ensure minimal machine down time.
- Implements and maintains work orders and ensures appropriate reporting/feedback is supplied to the initiators.
- Develops and implements schedules and procedures for equipment repairs and preventative maintenance programs.
- Makes meetings with Operations to review production downtime and other production problems, and assists in coordinating efforts to minimize effects of problems.
- Ensures that items are available in tool crib and orders for replacement parts are submitted timely.
- Ensures that 6S standards are being maintained within the maintenance/tooling department, tool crib and work areas.
- Directs and allocates overtime hours as schedules require supporting all production activities.
- Performs/assists in associate performance reviews and discussions.
- Supports continuous improvement projects.
- Participates in, and provides training as required.
- Participates in and performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) per plan.
- Ensures Housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are maintained.
- Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
- Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean.
- May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.
- Will cover plant wide operations and backfill production as needed.
- Manage Facility repair and maintenance as needed.
Education And Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- A four-year college or university degree/technical degree in Engineering/related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in automotive industry.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Technical ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Experience in a variety of basic operations disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Process / Tooling and Shop Floor Supervision.
- Identifies and coordinates the resolution of issues related to programs or processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.
