Maintenance Superintendent
About the role
Linde Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for their facility in East Chicago, IN. This position leads daily maintenance operations for Air Separation and Liquid Hydrogen production facilities.
Responsibilities
- Leads daily maintenance operations for Air Separation and Liquid Hydrogen production facilities
- Manages CMMS processes, maintenance backlog, and work execution workflow
- Develops and manages preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs
- Directs planned and unplanned shutdowns while coordinating with various teams
- Provides technical troubleshooting support, conducts root cause failure analyses, and implements corrective actions
- Manages maintenance budgets, contractor performance, and spare parts inventory
- Collaborates with site leadership and subject matter experts to align maintenance priorities and support long-term asset integrity
- Supports both office and field operations, including equipment inspections, climbing ladders, working at elevated heights, entering confined spaces, responding to off-hours maintenance needs, and traveling overnight up to 10%
Requirements
- Associate degree in Engineering with more than five (5+) years of industrial maintenance/reliability experience, or ten (10+) years of progressive industrial maintenance and reliability experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering Technology preferred
- More than three (3+) years of supervisory experience leading maintenance personnel, mentoring teams, and driving performance in an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of rotating and fixed equipment, including compressors, pumps, cooling towers, piping systems, heat exchangers, control valves, instrumentation, motors, electrical distribution systems, and associated maintenance practices
- Experience developing and managing preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs, including predictive technologies such as vibration and oil analysis
- Proven ability to lead maintenance operations, turnarounds, shutdowns, work processes, backlog management, and long-term asset reliability strategies
- Experience conducting root cause analyses (RCA), implementing corrective actions, trending operational performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong project management, organizational, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a matrix organization
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, contractors, suppliers, and environmental, health, and safety compliance requirements, including knowledge of applicable regulations and standards such as NFPA 70E
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms (Infor EAM, ProCal, or similar), Microsoft Office, and maintenance scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera
- Experience in the chemical, air separation, or similar industrial manufacturing industries and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
Qualifications
