About the role

The Maintenance Superintendent at Castle Mountain is responsible for overseeing mine maintenance, process maintenance, electrical maintenance, and building services. This role involves ensuring safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance execution across the mine site.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture integrating safety, environmental stewardship, accountability, and continuous improvement into all maintenance activities.
  • Lead and provide content for safety and maintenance meetings.
  • Conduct and document workplace inspections, oversight inspections, hazard assessments, and field-level risk assessments.
  • Ensure maintenance work complies with Company procedures, mine permits, applicable laws and regulations, and lockout/tagout practices.
  • Develop and direct site maintenance strategies, policies, annual plans, and long-term plans.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and long-range maintenance planning and scheduling, including work orders, preventive maintenance, equipment histories, maintenance records, and reporting.
  • Review equipment status, downtime information, turnover logs, ordered-part status, and other maintenance data to establish priorities and allocate resources.
  • Expand preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment availability, reduce unplanned downtime, increase reliability, and lower costs.
  • Coordinate equipment, material, parts, contractor, and personnel requirements with internal departments and suppliers.
  • Apply technical knowledge to support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance scheduling and execution support production targets and the return of equipment to safe, reliable service.
  • Direct annual and long-term maintenance budgets; monitor expenditures and adjust processes and resources to control costs while meeting operational requirements.
  • Plan and execute approved capital projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications.
  • Maintain effective information exchange with Operations and other departments to address deficiencies, resolve safety and operational issues, and accomplish established goals.
  • Lead maintenance supervisors, foremen, planners, trades employees, and contractors to operate as cohesive, coordinated, and goal-directed teams.
  • Assess workforce and training needs; oversee the development, delivery, scheduling, and documentation of technical, safety, and regulatory training programs.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, employee development, performance feedback, attendance administration, vacation scheduling, timekeeping review, and corrective action in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Ensure supervisory employees follow applicable employment laws and Company policies and regularly engage Human Resources for counsel and guidance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of mining industry experience with an in-depth understanding of open-pit mining operations.
  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience in an open-pit mining environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mine and process maintenance, including mobile and fixed equipment, industrial mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and utility or plant operations.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs, planning and scheduling, work management, budgeting, cost control, capital projects, and equipment reliability.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance information, establish priorities, coordinate resources, analyze root causes, and communicate performance to employees and management.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop employees, deliver training, collaborate across departments, and address performance or conduct matters consistently and professionally.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance and operational systems used for work orders, parts status, equipment downtime, timekeeping, and reporting.
