Maintenance Specialist (Utilities & Facilities)

About the role

Novolex is a leading manufacturer of food, beverage, and specialty packaging that supports multiple industries including foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, and industrial sectors. The Electro-Mechanic is the front-line “reactive” individual trouble-shooter and systems analyzer, requiring electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical knowledge.

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Specialist will perform or assist with all major and minor electrical repairs, including 480V 3-phase motor repairs/installation, motor starter circuit repairs, VFD drives, photo-optic sensing devices, proximity switches, E-Stop circuitry, and ground fault detection. They will also utilize precision measuring tools/devices, hand tools, and testing instruments for electrical equipment, and troubleshoot difficult maintenance problems that occur throughout the plant.

• Performing or assisting with all major and minor electrical repairs

• Utilizing precision measuring tools/devices, hand tools, and testing instruments for electrical equipment
• Reading and interpreting schematics and basic electrical symbol identification
• Understanding electrical theory, including basic ohms-law application

Requirements

• 2-year Industrial Electrical Degree or 1-2 years’ equivalent experience in an industrial environment
• Able to operate forklift and high-lift equipment, welding experience desired
• High degree of mechanical ability and aptitude with proven ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs on electro-mechanical equipment
• Basic computer skills required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

• 2 - 4 years boiler experience preferred with a current Boiler Operator Certification
• Two years as a Plant Shift Maintenance Technician or four years’ Industrial maintenance experience, responsible for electrical and mechanical repairs
• Knowledgeable in pneumatics, blue/schematic print reading (mechanical/electrical), welding, using shop equipment, and fabrication
• Electrical background with experience in troubleshooting is highly preferred
• Familiarity with AC and DC drives and PLCs

Pay

Comprehensive Compensation Package: Pay Rate: $33.21 - $43.05 per hour - depending on experience
