Maintenance Site Supervisor

About the Role

Directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, equipment, and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of a manufacturing plant. This role requires onsite presence and cannot be performed remotely.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with Sunrider affiliates (China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia) to assist in building/home/plant standards.
• Develops maintenance policies and procedures to ensure optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment.
• Ensures all building components (e.g., fire sprinklers, pumps, racks) comply with regulations and have up-to-date permits.
• Manages all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management.
• Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, compressed air, and air ventilation required for operations.
• Manages and trains staff in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring work follows safety standards and conforms to specifications.
• Oversees contractors engaged in facility renovation projects.
• Develops preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff for Sunrider U.S.A. and affiliates.
• Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize costs, and optimize labor and materials.
• Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs/modifications with design engineers.
• Directs training and indoctrination of employees to improve work performance and acquaint them with company policies.
• Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend improvements.
• Resolves employee grievances and prepares department budgets while monitoring expenditures.
• Ensures buildings, production departments, and grounds comply with FDA, NSF, and other regulatory agency regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Manages employees in the Maintenance and Sanitation Departments, including direction, coordination, and evaluation.
• Carries out supervisory duties such as interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and addressing complaints.

Requirements

• Associate degree (A.A.) in any Engineering field or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school; or a minimum of five years of related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Electrical Contractor’s license is a plus.
• Forklift certification may be required.

Skills

• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and deliver persuasive presentations to management and vendors.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to comprehend advanced calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory, including limits, rings, quadratic/differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software, internet software, manufacturing software, project management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands/arms, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and taste/smell.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles (e.g., herbal powders), and risk of electrical shock.
• Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, outside weather, and vibration.
• Noise level is usually moderate.
