Maintenance Shop Lead Tech
About the role
The Maintenance Lead Technician reports to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, providing direction to a group of technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance of equipment comply with the Company’s safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintains expert knowledge and advanced proficiency in various vehicle components and systems, performing complex repair and maintenance functions both on-site and on the road.
- Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication.
- Directs technicians to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Schedules repair work to minimize lost productivity.
- Inspects repairs done by third-party vendors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Performs repair diagnostics on more complex matters, identifying malfunction sources using electronic tools.
- Completes applicable Company training programs.
- Handles Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed.
- Mentors technicians.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience (optional).
- ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) (optional).
- A Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License (optional).
- Valid Driver’s License.
Skills
Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some of the following heavy truck or automotive systems:
- Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions.
