Maintenance Shop Floor Helper

Proficient Auto Logistics (PAL) is a leading specialized freight company focused on providing auto transportation and logistics services. As a combined entity, we operate one of the largest auto transportation fleets in North America with over 1,200 trucks, 55 terminal locations and 800 employees, a majority of whom are drivers. We offer a broad range of auto transportation and logistics services, primarily focused on transporting finished vehicles from automotive production facilities, marine ports of entry, or regional rail yards to auto dealerships around the country.

Responsibilities

• Graphite posts on auto haulers as part of preventative maintenance procedures
• Assist technicians with basic service and maintenance tasks as needed
• Inspect shop equipment for proper operation and report issues to management
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and upkeep on shop tools and equipment
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop floors, work areas, and storage spaces
• Sweep, mop, and remove debris from work areas daily
• Dispose of used parts, scrap materials, and fluids in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines
• Restock shop supplies and maintain inventory of maintenance materials
• Move equipment and vehicles within the yard as needed (if licensed and authorized)
• Perform seasonal maintenance tasks such as snow removal or facility upkeep
• Support management with additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in a mechanical shop or maintenance role preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus but not required)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment
• Strong attention to detail and safety

• Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods
• Working in varying shop temperatures and conditions
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy materials
