Maintenance Shift Electrician

About the role

The Maintenance Electrician is a key team member who demonstrates honesty, integrity, and ownership. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, or replacing components within complex electrical control systems, including PLC programs, drive configurations, and industrial communication networks. The position requires working weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Safety is paramount, and the candidate must uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, or replace components in complex electrical control systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs, drive configurations, and industrial communication networks.
• Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
• Work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and scheduled/unscheduled overtime.

Requirements

• Fundamental understanding of electrical theory.
• Experience troubleshooting low voltage systems, PLCs, instrumentation, process control devices, and VFDs.
• 3+ years’ experience in industrial or military electrical maintenance.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor will not sponsor visas).

Qualifications (Preferred)

• 2-year or 4-year degree in electrical or related field.
• Experience maintaining overhead cranes.
• Exposure to electrical substation equipment and maintenance practices.
