Maintenance Services II
Responsible for the general and craft maintenance of residence halls, operation of university equipment, and preventive and scheduled maintenance to support special events, projects, conferences, planned utility outages, and activities sponsored by individuals or groups using campus facilities. Greensburg Facilities Management & Operations maintains, preserves, and enhances the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s physical assets, providing custodial, building, and ground maintenance as well as construction and renovation projects in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Oakland Office of Facilities Management.
Essential Functions
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair of equipment; operate tractors, mowers, trucks, dump truck with spreader, and backhoes.
- Assist in electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and plumbing repairs, installations, and overhauls.
- Cut grass, plant shrubbery, weed gardens, mulch, remove snow, and spread salt.
- Assist in painting exterior surfaces, laying concrete, constructing fences and other fixtures, and cleaning basins and yard drains.
- Drive campus vehicle to pick up and/or deliver supplies, materials, or passengers on campus.
- Aid in loading and unloading vehicles and moving heavy boxes and supplies.
- Follow prescribed safety regulations and inform management of potential risks or hazards.
- Complete work requests and notify management of repair work and required materials.
- Support special events, projects, conferences, planned utility outages, and activities sponsored by individuals or groups using campus facilities.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
- Work individually or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
The Maintenance Worker II must be able to travel independently throughout campus and lift up to 50 pounds, including equipment and supplies. The role involves operating mowers, tractors, trucks, and backhoes, crawling into confined spaces, and climbing ladders.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED (combination of education and relevant experience may be considered).
- Minimum experience: 3 years of relevant maintenance work.
- Assignment category: Full‑time regular, Union eligible.
Work Schedule
Sunday – Thursday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; on‑campus work arrangement.
