Maintenance Scheduler - Cold Mill
About the role
Novelis is seeking Maintenance Schedulers for the Bay Minette, AL facility. The role involves planning and scheduling maintenance jobs for electricians, mechanics, and contractors, coordinating with Maintenance Leaders, Reliability Planners, and other schedulers to develop schedules for maintenance and expense project work. The Scheduler ensures the provision of materials, drawings, work orders, schedules, instructions, and maintenance manuals, and administers the maintenance workflow to improve equipment reliability.
Responsibilities

- Own all maintenance work in the scheduler’s backlog and improve work management metrics.
- Work with department resources to ensure rebuild work orders have clear repair directions and are scheduled (internally and externally).
- Acquire initial work order labor estimates.
- Reconcile all work orders from uptime and downtime with crew leaders and associate leaders.
- Assist crew leaders in identifying maintenance work to fill production gaps.
- Develop and maintain uptime, down day, and major/minor shutdown maintenance schedules (load-leveled to available resources).
- Report metrics as requested.
- Develop a working understanding of department equipment to facilitate scheduling.
- Develop and coordinate Gantt chart schedules for semi-annual and annual outages.
- Determine workforce availability and identify resource gaps for required work.
- Process notifications into work orders using minimal scheduling steps.
- Conduct schedule review meetings with operations, engineers, and maintenance coordinators/crew leaders.
- Set and maintain accurate status and coding of work orders.
- Develop a rough schedule at least 2 weeks in advance with required labor hours identified.
- Conduct backlog review and prioritization meetings with engineers, coordinators, and operations.
- Coordinate shared resource needs with other manufacturing maintenance departments and central maintenance.
- Communicate maintenance schedules (draft and final) with operations, maintenance leaders, associates, and engineers.
- Develop and publish final maintenance schedules and print work orders (minimum 1 weekday in advance for down day).
- Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications).
Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED or 5 years of industrial experience.
- Ability to work with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership at all organizational levels.
- Department-specific experience in maintenance, engineering, or operations (5 or more years preferred).
- Demonstrated passion for executing maintenance work at the right time.
- Ability to learn SAP-specific transaction requirements.
- Ability to follow standard procedures for the scheduling process.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Experience with Excel.
- Public speaking skills for conducting meetings.
- SAP experience (preferred).
- 2-year degree in a related field (preferred).
- General mechanical/electrical experience (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Near constant standing with frequent walking and occasional sitting.
- Occasional below-waist-level work, climbing, balancing, carrying, reaching over 15” away from the body, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Fine motor skills and use of forceful motion, including push/pull and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able and willing to work at heights.

Novelis' Bay Minette facility is located 35 miles northeast of Mobile, AL, and 45 miles west of Pensacola, FL. This newly announced, highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will create approximately 1,000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing, primarily serving the beverage can and automotive markets.
