About the role
The role is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance of the equipment operated by the company. This may include equipment owned or leased by the company and/or equipment owned or leased by third parties.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on company mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
- Affords assistance and performs with installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades, such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, carpet, and mechanics
- Performs warehouse and/or terminal duties in connection with receiving, storage and distribution of materials as follows:
- Receives goods and materials and checks them against purchase orders and delivery documentation to ensure correctness of merchandise and proper condition
- Maintains clean and orderly conditions within the warehouse and/or terminal
- Performs general grounds keeping on a daily basis; insure disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition
- Performs weekly safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for the patrons of the facility and to eliminate all hazards
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required
- Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
- May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed
- Provides input to the company regarding specifications of the operational equipment
- Evaluates maintenance programs to ensure they are accomplishing the intended objectives
- Constantly evaluates new technology as it is applied to equipment utilized by the company
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 2-4 years' experience working in maintenance
- Journeyman's License as a Millwright preferred
- Valid CPR certificate required
- Must have valid driver's license
- Experience with computerized operating systems
- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired
- Required to observe all safety and health requirements for container terminal environment
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings and nights
- Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise
- The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment
- The ability to operate various types of equipment
