Description
The Maintenance Technician role at Smurfit Westrock's Indianapolis facility supports safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations by performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance on production equipment and facility systems. Key responsibilities include diagnosing issues, completing repairs, executing preventative maintenance, fabricating parts, inspecting and testing safety-critical systems, and coordinating with plant teams to resolve equipment and facility issues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical training or certification in machine-specific maintenance and electronics
- Minimum of 2 years of machining experience and 3 years of electrical component repair experience
- Working knowledge of AC and DC motors with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, small power tools, and machine tools such as grinders and drill presses
- Able to accurately use measuring instruments including rulers, calipers, and micrometers
- Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical safety practices
- Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and system use
- Able to safely operate forklifts, scissors lifts, and other material-handling equipment
- Able to pass color vision and color hue testing
- Willingness and ability to work on-call and work overtime as required
- Reliable attendance and the ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Demonstrated accountability, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-noise, industrial environment
