About the role

The Maintenance Project Engineer manages maintenance evolutions and support functions for the fleet, ensuring safe, proper, and efficient maintenance in compliance with company policies and standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing maintenance projects, coordinating with contractors, preparing project scopes, and managing contractor teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned projects and provide oversight
  • Coordinate work with outside contractors and engineers
  • Develop work scopes, request proposals, and prepare purchase orders
  • Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and purchase documents
  • Review and handle drawings and submittals
  • Perform field work and troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Support Engineering and Maintenance Departments in executing capital improvement projects
  • Develop and maintain 5-year maintenance plans and budgets
  • Anticipate and identify potential problems, taking appropriate action
  • Communicate effectively using intercom systems, radios, and face-to-face interactions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Five years of experience in the power generation industry with at least three years of project management experience, preferably in an incineration plant environment
  • Experience with steam turbine-generator operations, components, and maintenance practices
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Suite and familiar with CMMS programs
  • Maintain all necessary licenses as required by local, state, federal, environmental, and health/safety regulatory agencies

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of steam turbine-generator operations, components, and maintenance practices
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and familiarity with CMMS programs
  • Maintain all necessary licenses as required by local, state, federal, environmental, and health/safety regulatory agencies
  • Ability to operate various safety equipment and perform tasks in adverse conditions
  • Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, handling tools, fine motor skills, reaching, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, crawling, ascending/descending stairs, and using various types of personal protective equipment
