About the role
The Maintenance Process Technician is responsible for installing new equipment, conducting routine maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment faults on site. They also assist in the removal of old equipment and train staff on equipment operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoot PLC’s, with an understanding of Allen-Bradley and Siemens controllers.
- Inspect equipment and conduct routine maintenance, including lubrication of machines and training machine operators on daily TPM inspections.
- Perform preventative maintenance during downtime and product changeovers.
- Leverage electrical engineering principles to identify root causes of equipment failures, implement corrective actions, and support process and equipment improvements.
- Serve, troubleshoot, and repair equipment to help reduce or eliminate extended equipment downtime.
- Support 6S / continuous improvement initiatives by maintaining workplace organization, identifying process inefficiencies, and participating in corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide Project Management technical support and training on new equipment.
- Aid in writing work instructions and job hazard analysis (JHA) for new equipment and machines, to include identifying safety concerns and correcting them as required before new equipment is released to production.
- Adhere to all safety and performance regulations, policies, and procedures, including reviewing and helping the safety committee team keep Job Hazard Analysis up to date.
- Become familiarized with all equipment and technical representatives of our machine and equipment companies to better solve problems in an urgent manner.
- Maintain cycle times, production yields, and overall efficiency of manufacturing lines.
- Diagnose manufacturing defects and implement corrective adjustments on equipment.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager.
- Other duties as required by the maintenance manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, but not required.
- Proven work experience as a maintenance engineer.
- Knowledge of EPA and OSHA guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
- Ability to read system schematics.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills utilizing laptop computers to isolate issues.
- Understanding of safety and equipment procedures.
- Provide good communication and training skills with all employees.
- Ability to work with heavy equipment.
- Working knowledge of CMMS (eMaint) and ability to generate multiple reports and analyze downtime data from its reports.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma and OEE.
- Use eMaint tools to help develop an effective Preventive and Predictive maintenance program.
- Office and computer proficiency, with Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Must be comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
- Must be able to pull, push, lift, move, and adjust products up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to engage in periods of long standing, walking, and consistent lifting.
- Must be able to work with sharp tools and wear hearing protection as required.
- Hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required.
- Safety, hygiene and cleanliness is strictly enforced.
