About the role

The Plant Maintenance role is responsible for all aspects of plant repair, including conveyor systems, electrical, plumbing, pneumatics, and welding.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize all tools safely and in compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure equipment is serviced, repaired, and maintained per manufacturer specifications and company policy.
  • Assist in scheduling plant and equipment for work and repair.
  • Adhere to work priorities specified by the supervisor to meet operational needs.
  • Follow Lock-Out Tag-Out and all safety procedures when working on equipment.
  • Comply with company safety rules and regulations; correct safety issues on a priority basis.
  • Wear proper safety equipment (PPE) while working and on plant grounds.
  • Identify, log, and take corrective action on safety-related items to ensure safe plant operation.
  • Operate crane equipment, hydraulic equipment, and specialized tools within safety limits.
  • Complete all necessary daily paperwork, including daily logs, plant repair requests, Job Hazard Analysis, permits, and check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Check in with supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Work scheduled hours, which may include 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, overtime, and weekends.
  • Carry a company cell phone and be available to answer calls for company business and scheduling.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Trade school certification.
  • One year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Qualified and experienced welder; must pass a physical welding exam.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment functions and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with conveyors, belts, gearboxes, and drives.
  • Electrical experience with 120V to 460V 3-phase systems; ability to troubleshoot control circuits and change electric motors and components.
  • Data entry and computer skills, including work order entry and email.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with employees/visitors and function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and outdoor working conditions.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires significant walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
  • Exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exerting 25–50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exerting 10–20 pounds of force continually.
  • Must perform all job functions, including pushing, turning, and/or pulling controls.
