Maintenance Planner & Scheduler
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities to ensure work is properly prepared and executed with minimal disruption to operations. They will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering teams to drive efficiency, improve processes, and support a fast-paced, mission-critical data center environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule all maintenance work orders, ensuring proper preparation of labor, materials, and documentation
- Manage and maintain the CMMS to track, prioritize, and close work orders with accuracy
- Cook with Operations, Engineering, and vendors to ensure maintenance activities are completed on time and with minimal impact
- Lead asset audits and ensure accurate data integrity within the CMMS system
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, including sourcing and procurement planning
- Support capital projects and assist with planning site outages and maintenance shutdowns
- Develop and improve maintenance processes, SOPs, and job plans
- Conduct root cause analysis on maintenance issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of maintenance planner/scheduler experience
- Minimum 3–5+ years of industrial, data center, or related maintenance experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Knowledge of work order control, scheduling, and maintenance planning processes
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to travel occasionally (training or cross-site support)
Preferred
- Prior experience in a data center or mission-critical environment
- Experience with change management processes and maintenance workflows
- Hands-on understanding of plant or facility equipment (pumps, piping, HVAC, electrical systems, etc.)
- Experience developing SOPs, job plans, or maintenance procedures
- Familiarity with Visio or AutoCAD
Work Environment
Facility Role
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday standard business hours, with flexibility based on site needs and occasional after-hours support
Work Location: Initially supporting Aurora, IL during construction; transitioning to Wood Dale, IL site long-term
Travel: Occasional travel for training (e.g., Northern Virginia)
Work Setting: Primarily office-based with periodic time in the data center for audits, cycle counts, and operational support
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform site walkdowns as needed
Fast-paced environment requiring strong multitasking and prioritization skills
